About

It all started as a dream.

Ok, not really.

It all started as a favor to a friend. Cailyn made some posters for her friends in college to promote their concerts. After a few of those, she was doing a lot of favors. Friends, student organizations, local businesses... Name it.

Then, Cailyn saw this poster:

The position with the University of Kentucky Student Activities Board (SAB) seemed like a great way to create more things that would be seen by more people, so she applied. She applied for "Assistant Director of Graphic Design". The fancy title meant that she would work 5 hours a week, unpaid, in the SAB office, and she could keep her job as an Assistant Manager at Starbucks.

She interviewed.
They called her back.
They offered her a different job... "The Director of Graphic Design."
She said, "...what?"

(It wasn't the most eloquent response, but it was the most honest.)

After jumping up and down in the small back office of her Starbucks, she agreed to take the job. It was no longer 5 hours a week. It was bumped to 20 hours, and it included getting paid.

Working with the Board may sound like the college equivalent to the high school “Homecoming Committee,” but with a $500,000 yearly budget and over 70 events per semester, this organization doesn’t carry the usual disdain associated with the words “student-run organization.” During her time with SAB, Cailyn helped to develop individual marketing and promotion plans for over 140 events. As a testament to her organizational skills, she was also working part time as an Assistant Manager at Starbucks, and carrying a full course load as an undergraduate student. (Whew.)

After graduation Cailyn held a lead design position at Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing (FHTM) in Lexington, KY. As a member of the corporate marketing team, she was responsible for creating print material that is used by over 200,000 employees nationwide as well as employees in both Canada and the United Kingdom. (She's international.) Her work with FHTM included vitamin product packaging, product catalogs, magazine layouts, and training manuals.

Now on her own, Cailyn works frequently with other small business owners to perfect their brands and provide them with outstanding design work that they can use to grow their businesses. She also enjoys work on a larger scale and continues to foster her own career as a local artist.
